With around a week remaining in the regular season, the MVP race is nearing the finish line. While much of the NBA community is split between Nikola Jokic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, NBA veteran Lou Williams is taking part in a different debate: who to pick in a playoff series.
“We know what Luka is, and I obviously know what he brings to the table, but when we’re talking about this year, SGA has been one of two of the best players in the entire league right now,” Williams said.

Williams continued, saying the only player he would pick in a playoff series above SGA is Nikola Jokic.
“So, if I’m comparing SGA and anybody else except say Jokic out in Denver, that’s possibly the only person that I would have a conversation about picking besides him going into a playoff series, and so, this is easy for me, I got SGA for sure.”
Gilgeous-Alexander is currently the heavy favorite to take home the MVP award, averaging 32.6 points, 6.4 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game this season.
While SGA’s season has been fantastic, Jokic has also had a record-breaking campaign, being the only player in the league averaging a triple-double, putting up 30.0 points, 12.8 rebounds and 10.2 assists per game.
Doncic has dealt with lingering injuries this season on top of the blockbuster trade to the Lakers, but Giannis Antetokounmpo has quietly had a tremendous season and also deserves to be in the conversation for the best player in the world.
