On Tuesday night, Denver Nuggets star Russell Westbrook became the first player in NBA history to record 200 career triple-doubles. The 2017 MVP achieved the stat-line late in the 122-110 victory over Memphis and finished with 12 points, ten rebounds and 14 assists.
With 1:28 left to play, Nuggets center Dario Saric missed a three-pointer and Westbrook grabbed his lone offensive rebound of the night and completed the triple-double.

“It’s a blessing,” Westbrook said after the game. “I’m truly grateful to be able to play the game [well enough] to do that. But I’m also appreciative of the ones who came before me.”

Westbrook has posted a triple-double with an record high of six different NBA franchises. In the 2016-17 season, Westbrook became just the second player in NBA history to average a triple-double for an entire season, a feat he has repeated several times since.
For the Nuggets, the win snapped a two-game losing streak and they moved to 8-5 on the season. For Memphis, the loss is their third loss in the last four games as they continue to deal with injury woes. They are now 8-7 on the season.
