Golden State Warriors

Play Moses Moody or trade him, Golden State Warriors

Play Moses Moody or trade him, Golden State Warriors
Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY SPORTS

Moses Moody shined with 21 points, going seven for nine from the field, four for six from behind the arc, and three for three at the foul line off the bench in an ugly 133-118 loss on January 7, 2024, against the Toronto Raptors. Moody also had three rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 22 minutes. With the injury to Chris Paul’s hand, Moses Moody once again seized on the opportunity. If the Warriors don’t intend to play Moses Moody each game and give him considerable playing time, the team should trade him.

Unfortunately, Steph Curry had a horrible game against the Toronto Raptors. Curry scored nine points, making just 2 of 14 shots from the field. Steph was even more frigid from behind the three-point line—missing all nine attempts. We, of course, know that was an uncharacteristic performance for the greatest shooter in basketball history.

Play Moses Moody

When the Golden State Warriors drafted Moses Moody with the 14th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, the team committed to giving him an authentic opportunity to have a significant role. A team doesn’t use the 14th overall pick without communicating this intention. Unfortunately, Steve Kerr seems unwilling to play Moses Moody in many games. The team’s general manager, Mike Dunleavy Jr., claims he doesn’t want to lose Moses Moody to another team.

However, Mike Dunleavy, Jr. can’t expect a player with Moody’s talent to remain happy with little to no playing time. Speaking of Moses Moody’s potential unhappiness, rumors are swirling about him being unhappy with his role and limited playing time. If this is true, one should understand why.

Moses Moody has always been regarded as an elite athlete, including during his short yet successful time at Arkansas under the leadership of the Razorbacks’ phenomenal head coach, Eric Musselman. Therefore, it’s understandable for Moody to feel like his valuable time is being wasted.

Parting Thoughts

With the Warriors in 12th place in the Western Conference, 1.5 games out of the play-in tournament, and five games behind the Dallas Mavericks to avoid the play-in tournament, it’s time for Steve Kerr to give Moses Moody much more playing time. Kerr should give him a fair chance to see how he can help the team become more competitive. Without a major contribution from someone like Moody, the Warriors will miss the playoffs.

Do you think the Golden State Warriors will make the playoffs? Why or why not? Would you like Steve Kerr to give Moses Moody much more playing time? Why or why not?
