The Boston Celtics are battling for their season against the Philadelphia 76ers. Just hours before Saturday’s matchup, it was revealed that Jayson Tatum would not play due to knee soreness.

Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla is known for being extreme, but when he revealed the starting lineup for the win-or-go-home battle, the NBA world was stunned.

This starting five came into Saturday’s matchup without a single minute of on-court action played together. Mazzulla ultimately made the call to start them anyways, in the wake of Tatum’s absence.

Despite the inexperience as a unit, the Celtics recovered well from a slow start to trim the Sixers’ lead to five by halftime.
