The Las Vegas Golden Knights survived a late push from the Anaheim Ducks to win Game 1 by a final score of 3-1. It was the Golden Knights’ fourth win in a row.
The first goal didn’t come until just over four minutes into the second period, with Brett Howden giving the Golden Knights the lead. The Ducks then finally tied the game with six minutes left thanks to a Mikael Granlund goal. However, the lead didn’t last long. Ivan Barbashev scored a minute later to give the Golden Knights the lead once again. Mitch Marner scored an empty-netter with 6.0 seconds left to secure Vegas’ win.
The Ducks outplayed the Golden Knights offensively. They outshot them 34-22, had more power-play opportunities (4-2), and less giveaways (17-23).
Vegas goalie Carter Hart had his best performance of the playoffs. He stopped 33 of 34 shots, for a .971 save percentage, his highest so far this postseason. Hart also saved all five power-play shots faced.
Game 2 will be on Wednesday, May 6, at 9:30 ET.
