Denver Broncos Ring of Fame quarterback Craig Morton died on Saturday at the age of 83, the team announced. A cause of death was not disclosed.

Morton spent six seasons with the Broncos from 1977-82, leading Denver to its first playoff appearance and a berth in Super Bowl XII.

He was first drafted by the Dallas Cowboys fifth overall in the 1965 NFL Draft before going on to play a decade in Dallas. He racked up over 10,000 yards as a Cowboy before being traded to the New York Giants in 1974.

After over two years in New York, he landed on the Cowboys in 1977. His most impressive season was that 1977 campaign in which he led Dallas to a 12-2 record and a Super Bowl appearance.

By the time he retired after the 1982 season, he had recorded 183 touchdowns, 27,908 yards and 81 regular-season wins across his NFL career.
