The Montreal Canadiens dominated the Buffalo Sabres in Game 3, winning 6-2. They now hold a 2-1 series lead.

The Sabres got on the board bright and early, with Tage Thompson scoring just 53 seconds into the game. However, Alex Newhook would tie it up later in the period.

The second period is where the Canadiens started to run away with it. Cole Caufield, Zachary Bolduc, and Jurah Slafkovsky all scored within six minutes to make it 4-1. Rasmus Dahlin added one for the Sabres to make it 4-2, but it wasn’t enough. Kirby Dach scored in the third to make it 5-2, and an empty net goal from Newhook sealed the victory.

Things got chippy between the two teams. They combined for a total of 80 penalty minutes for 25 penalties. A total of three goals were scored on 10 power-play opportunities.

Game 4 will be on Tuesday, May 12, at 7 p.m. ET.
