Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard is no longer on blood thinning medication after being cleared of his deep vein thrombosis, sources told ESPN. He will reportedly need some time to ramp back up and will miss Game 1 of the NBA Playoffs on Sunday, but he’s expected to return soon after.

Team doctors said that a recovery this fast has never been seen before but can be attributed to early detection and top-of-the-line treatment.

The team said Tuesday that Lillard was making “significant improvement on his deep vein thrombosis” and that Lillard will increase his on-court activity, but did not offer a specific date for his return.

The nine-time All-Star was expected to miss far more time, potentially the rest of the season.

The Bucks faired well without Lillard though, going 10-4 in the final 14 games including an eight game win streak to close the season. They will certainly need all hands on deck as they face off against a tough Indiana Pacers team in the first round.
