United States Men’s National Team striker Folarin Balogun is officially available against Belgium on Monday after FIFA announced the suspension of his one-game red card ban.

He was issued a red card during the United States’ victor over Bosnia-Herzegovina and was expected to be automatically suspended for Monday’s Round of 16 battle against Belgium.

But FIFA announced on Monday that this one-game suspension has been lifted, citing Article 27 of it’s code of discipline. This gives FIFA the power to fully or partially suspend a disciplinary action for a player.

“By operation of Article 27 FDC, the implementation of the automatic match suspension for USA player Folarin Balogun is suspended for a probationary period of one (1) year,” FIFA’s statement read.

The 25-year-old has been crucial for the United States so far, netting three goals in this tournament. The USMNT released their own statement shortly after the the ban suspension was announced.

“We accept the decision of the Disciplinary Committee and are pleased that Folarin Balogun is eligible to compete tomorrow. Our full attention is focused on the Round of 16 match against Belgium in Seattle, and we look forward to the continued support of our amazing fans.”

In Monday’s match against Belgium, the USMNT will look to make their first World Cup quarterfinal appearance since 2002.
