While the Thunder lost their Summer League game to the Atlanta Hawks 82-77, Aday Mara and Payton Sandfort showcased much potential.
The Thunder’s 12th-overall pick Aday Mara showed flashes of defensive dominance. He finished the game with 4 blocks and snagged 9 total rebounds. On the offensive end, he was a bit sloppy, but he still managed to score double-digit points. Since OKC values their current defensive-minded and scrappy big men (Chet Holmgren & Isaiah Hartenstein), Mara will fit right in.

Meanwhile, the Thunder’s second-year undrafted player in Payton Sandfort shot the lights out. He finished the game with 25 points and went 4-6 from three. Overall, Sandfort shot 60% from the field, and if he can keep up this efficiency, he might just earn some extra minutes next season.
On the other side of the court, the Hawks spread the wealth, as multiple players scored double-digit points. Atlanta’s 8th-overall pick Kingston Flemings was one of those players, and he finished with 12 points, 5 assists, 1 steal, and 3 blocks. He was a bit inefficient from the floor, but it was an all-around solid showcase for the rookie.
