Anthony Edwards calls teammates ‘soft’ after fourth straight loss

Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards is in his fourth NBA season and has already emerged as a young leader for Minnesota. He’s been the cornerstone of the franchise for the last several years, but with that comes the responsibility of keeping the team on the same page. Following their fourth loss in a row, Edwards didn’t hold back his thoughts on the team’s current state.

“Our identity right now is, I think it’s we soft as hell as a team, internally. Not to the other team, but internally, we soft. We can’t talk to each other,” Edwards said. “Just a bunch of little kids. Just like we playing with a bunch of little kids. Everybody, the whole team. We just can’t talk to each other. And we’ve got to figure it out, because we can’t go down this road.”

After reaching the 2024 Western Conference Finals, Minnesota made a major change by trading Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks, thus going all-in on Edwards as the team captain.

The revamped lineup has looked pretty inconsistent, losing four straight games and seven of their last nine.

Edwards also seemed unhappy that Minnesota’s own fans were booing them on multiple occasions during the loss.

“The fans f—ing booing us,” Edwards said. “That s— is crazy, man. We’re getting booed in our home arena. That’s so f—ing disrespectful, it’s crazy.”

The season is still young and the T-Wolves still have plenty of time to figure it out, but this summer’s trade is looking more and more like a loss for Minnesota.
