Angel Reese suffers season-ending injury

Angel Reese drives to the basket

Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese has announced on social media that she’s suffered a season-ending wrist injury. After sustaining the injury during Chicago’s matchup with the Los Angeles Sparks, Reese will officially be out for the remainder of her rookie season.

“What a year,” Reese posted on social media Saturday. “I never would have imagined the last bucket of my rookie season would be a 3 but maybe that was God saying give them a taste of what they will be seeing more of in Year 2 lol.”

Despite the tough circumstances, Reese appears to remain optimistic.

“I’m filled with emotions right now that I have a season ending injury, but also filled with so much gratitude for what is next. Although this is God’s timing and not mine, I am finally able to give myself a physical and mental break. ‘God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers.'”

The No. 7 pick in this year’s draft had a tremendous rookie season, averaging 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. She notched 26 double-doubles, the second most in a season in WNBA history.

While her season may be over and the Rookie of The Year award likely going to her rival Caitlin Clark, Reese’s career is off to a great start and it won’t be long until she’s back on the court for Chicago.
