Algeria took advantage of two second half goals to secure their comeback victory over Jordan, their first win in a World Cup since 2014.

Following their loss on Monday to Algeria, Jordan have been officially eliminated from the 2026 World Cup.

The match would open with both sides creating opportunities early on.

However, a brief deadlock began to form as both sides struggled to finish scoring opportunities.

In the 33rd minute, Jordanian goalkeeper Yazeed Abulaila would keep the match even with a fantastic save.

And just a few minutes later in the 36th minute, Nizar Al-Rashdan would give Jordan the lead.

Al-Rashdan collected a loose ball in the box, slotting it right into the bottom right corner and giving Jordan a 1-0 advantage.

The remainder of the half would remain quiet as halftime arrived where Al-Rashdan’s goal would be the difference.

The second half saw Algeria press hard, forcing Jordan in their own box for a majority of the half early on.

The Algerian press did not let up, continuing to create scoring opportunites.

And their continued persistence would be rewarded.

In the 69th minute, Nadhir Benbouali would grab the equalizer with a header.

But Algeria wanted to take home all three points.

In the 82nd Algeria would take another corner, looking for some late game magic.

And Amine Gouiri would secure the go-ahead goal, tapping in bounding ball right into net.

And it would be Gouiri’s goal what would be the difference, with the full-time whistle securing Algeria’s 2-1 comeback over Jordan.

Jordan and Algeria will play their final group stage matches Saturday at 10 p.m.

Jordan will look to slow down Messi and Argentina, as Algeria search for a points outcome with Austria to possibly propel them to the round of 32.
