Anonymous NBA GM draws Scottie Pippen comparison for rising star Cooper Flagg: “Hell of a No. 2”

Cooper Flagg is the talk of the basketball world. Every NBA team would love to have him, and his skill level may have led to a few franchises tanking on purpose this season.

Despite all the praise Flagg has received, one anonymous NBA GM believes Flagg will be more of a second option on a team, like Scottie Pippen.

“I say Scottie because he could have been a No. 1 guy, and was after MJ left [Chicago], but he became by far the best No. 2. I think Cooper will be a hell of a No. 2, but he might need a top 10 [player] running mate with him.

“He can obviously prove me wrong, but I don’t see him as a No. 1 guy on a championship team in his career,” the GM said.

Most people believe Flagg has the talent to become a franchise player, a No. 1 option for a team. Despite his Duke Blue Devils losing 70-67 to the Houston Cougars in the Final Four, Flagg still played dominantly, scoring 27 on 8-19 shooting, including 3-4 from three.

Even if Flagg does become more of a Scottie Pippen type player, is that a bad thing? Pippen is one of the greatest players in NBA history, and being compared to the Chicago Bulls great is an honor.
