Chicago Bulls newcomer Caleb Wilson says he expects to win ROTY

As the 2026 NBA draftees acclimate to and spend time with their respective teams, No. 4 pick Caleb Wilson is making one of his rookie goals very clear.

During his introductory press conference with the Chicago Bulls on Friday, he said his eyes are on the Rookie of the Year award.

“I expect to have Rookie of the Year, honestly,” he said. “I’m going to work hard. I’m going to do what it takes. I feel like the team is really good for me and how I envision to play.”

Wilson is coming off a spectacular freshman year for the North Carolina Tar Heels, in which he shot up the draft boards and found himself in top-three discussions before missing the NCAA Tournament with a broken thumb.

As a 6’9″ forward with world-class athleticism and impressive defensive production, Wilson is a two-way star in the making.

Just before being selected fourth overall by the Bulls, he said he wanted to become the greatest player to ever play. When asked about that statement on Friday, Wilson stood behind it.

“I’m striving to be the greatest ever,” he said. “It is a bold thing to say, but that’s what I’m striving for. I’m not striving to be an average or a mediocre player… If I reach that goal, then I do. If I don’t, then at least I know I tried.”
