San Antonio Spurs phenom Victor Wembanyama is one of the most exciting players in the league. The reigning rookie of the year has a skill set unlike anyone his size that we have ever seen. He instantly became one of the most popular players in the NBA and garnered over 1.3 billion views across the league’s social media accounts last season.
Wembanyama is already one of the league’s premier defenders. He became the first rookie to ever be named to an All-Defensive First Team. He was the NBA’s leader in blocks per game with 3.6 and was named a finalist for the Defensive Player of The Year Award.

Finding a flaw in his game is not easy. But his field goal percentage was below average for his position, likely due to him firing a lot more threes than the average center. His three-point percentage is roughly the same as the average for his position, so an improvement in that category could help him become a bigger threat from outside and subsequently raise his overall shooting percentage.
Statistics aside, no player passes the eye test better than Wembanyama. His length, shooting and guard-like ball handling result in highlight reel plays straight from a video game. His jumpshot seems to be impossible to block even for the league’s top defenders.
Although the Spurs failed to build a successful system around him last season, Wembanyama clearly has the passion, skillset, and maturity to become an MVP-calliber player.
