Steph Curry made history in Game 7 in the first round of the NBA playoffs against the Sacramento Kings. Last evening, the Golden State Warriors, the defending NBA champions, dominated the Kings 120-100 on the road. The Kings showed they will be a force to be reckoned with in the future, but the team did not quite have what it takes to dethrone the defending champions.

Steph Curry Made History
Chef Curry cooked so well yesterday that he landed in the NBA history books. No other player had ever scored 50 points in a Game 7 in the NBA playoffs until Curry did yesterday. In addition to his 50 points, the greatest shooter in the game’s history had eight rebounds and six assists in 38 minutes. He needed to have that performance since his teammates, except Kevon Looney, delivered average at best performances.

Although Steph Curry’s historic performance will receive the lion’s share of media attention, and such a performance definitely merits it, Looney’s contributions deserve equal focus. Looney had a double-double, 11 points, 21 rebounds, and four assists in 31 minutes. He dominated the paint. His commanding inside presence limited the Kings’ second-chance points and gave the Warriors crucial second-chance points. Therefore, even though Curry’s performance was truly incredible, the Warriors would not have won without Looney’s impressive work in the paint.
Andrew Wiggins had 17 points, seven rebounds, and two assists in 37 minutes, and Klay Thompson had 16 points, five rebounds, and one assist in 35 minutes.
The Lakers Are Next
The next obstacle in the way of the Golden State Warriors winning the NBA Championship: the Los Angeles Lakers. LeBron James and his teammates steamrolled the Memphis Grizzles to advance to this series against the Warriors.
The first game of the series with take place tomorrow at 10:00 p.m. on TNT. It’s a home game for the Warriors, and the team has been almost impossible to beat at home this season.
