Prediction: LeBron’s own words have painted a clear picture

With LeBron James‘s free agency decision looming, we have our thoughts as to where he will take his talents. Since his career is closing, there are many implications behind his forthcoming decision, but maybe his own words can paint a picture.

Back in 2014, James made a decision that rocked the entire NBA. He made a choice to try and make amends with his former team. Plastered everywhere were his words, “I’m coming home.”

James’s iconic line came from an open essay he gave to a Sports Illustrated reporter Lee Jenkins, who helped land James on the next cover of their magazine. Within this essay, many prominent quotes were said: “I was a kid from Northeast Ohio,” “Nothing is given, everything is earned.” However, two other statements hold so much more weight now.

“I always believed I’d return to Cleveland to finish my career”

James said it himself, and now the opportunity is finally approaching. The storybook ending leads us to believe he will return to the Cleveland Cavaliers for a third stint. It may not be a long, or even a successful stint, but the moment just feels right.

There is a chance at this third stint being successful, as this Cavs team needs something to help them get over the hump. New additions keep coming in, like James Harden, but the lights keep appearing too bright. For the past three years, the Cavs lost to the Eastern Conference champions, two of which won the NBA championship. There were opportunities for them to outlast their competitors, but each time, they fell short. One additional dash of greatness could be enough to at least bring them back to the NBA Finals. James does know a thing or two about that.

“This is what makes me happy”

This key line has so much more importance now, considering James is reportedly making a happiness-led decision. If returning home is what makes him happy, would he not want to do it again? James wants to find happiness in his potential final destination, which leads us to believe that his hometown will see the return of the King. If we had to guess, his kingdom will welcome him back with open arms and be honored to be his place of retirement.
