Madison Square Garden canceled the New York Knicks watch party ahead of Game 4 of the NBA Finals. While ticket prices for the game reach an average of around $4,000, media outlets prioritize the star power that will be in attendance.

The New York City Police Department has already banned pop-up watch parties in light of the recent outbursts after Game 3. Now, the CEO of MSG, James Dolan, has decided to completely cancel the official watch party outside of the arena.

Knicks fans were already in the hot seat when they displayed inappropriate behavior after their Game 3 loss. NYC and MSG appear to be putting the fans in timeout, so the bad look continues to worsen for the Knicks’ fanbase.

While MSG has always highlighted the celebrities in attendance at their games, this year feels more deliberate. The emphasis has shifted away from the fans to the star power that attends the Finals games. Whether this is due to the fans’ behavior or not is up for interpretation, but a standout figure is now making the headlines more pronounced.

Taylor Swift, who is not native to the New York area, has blown up social media, as she plans to sit court-side for the game tonight. For obvious reasons, media outlets have blasted this information everywhere, as she will be joining the star-studded lineup of celebrities that will pay fortunes to attend the game.

While the Knicks are still ahead in the series against the Spurs, it is becoming more and more difficult for the fanbase to attend, or even watch, the games. The seats are immensely priced, and bad eggs are spoiling watch party privileges.

The average Knicks fan might just be forced to watch their team, and Taylor Swift, from home tonight.
