Lamine Yamal secures first World Cup goal as Spain dominates Saudi Arabia 4-0

Spain rolls over Saudi Arabi in dominate 4-0 shutout victory. They’ll be keeping a close eye on the match between Uruguay and Cape Verde tonight.

If Uruguay win tonight against Cape Verde at 6 p.m., Spain and Uruguay will meet at 8 p.m. on Friday in a winner-take-all match for Group H.

After their frustrating 0-0 draw against Cape Verde on Monday, Spain made sure to put any doubt to rest.

18-year-old Spanish superstar Lamine Yamal would finally find his first World Cup goal after he would meet a Mikel Oyarzabal pass at the back post.

Yamal, making a great run, would slide the ball into the empty net and secure the first goal of the 2026 World Cup for Spain.

And Spain made sure to remind everyone why they won the European Championship in 2024.

In the 21st minute, Oyarzabal would collect a loose ball inside the six-yard box and would double Spain’s advantage.

And just three minutes later, Oyarzabal would secure himself a brace with a volley of passes inside the box.

The Spaniards would take their 3-0 lead into the half.

Spain would pick up right where they left off in the 49th minute.

Marc Cucurella would look to notch his first of this World Cup with a powerful strike onto net.

But Saudi goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais was right there to make the save, however.

The deflected ball would bounce off of Saudi defender Hassan Al-Tambakti and trickle right into the back of the net.

Al-Owais would be put under more pressure by the Spaniards in the 53rd.

Saving back-to-back shots from Pedro Porro and Ferran Torres.

The match would remain quiet for the remainder of the half, that was until stoppage time.

Fabián Ruiz would find the back of the net, but a VAR review would find Ruiz was in an offside position, disallowing the goal.

Spain would secure the dominant 4-0 win over Saudi Arabi. Outshooting the Saudis 22 to three over the full 90 minutes.

Spain and Saudi Arabi will play their final group stage match at 8 p.m. on Friday.

If Uruguay beat Cape Verde tonight, it will create a winner take all game for the group.

Depending on the goal differential at the time of their match, Spain may just need a draw to top the group

Saudi Arabi will be looking to keep their tournament alive against Cape Verde, most likely needing a win to possibly advance.
