Trae Young agrees to $212 million deal with Washington Wizards

Free agent guard Trae Young has agreed to sign a four-year, $212 million deal to remain with the Washington Wizards, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Young declined his $49 million player option last week, but the expectation was always that he would return to Wahsington.

The four-time All-Star is widely regarded as one of the league’s premier playmakers, but he battled through an injury-riddled 2025-26 season.

After playing just 10 games for the Hawks due to a knee injury, they shipped him off to the Wizards near the February trade deadline.

There, he played just five games for the Wizards before various other issues virtually ended his season.

His return signals the beginning of what could be a huge summer for the Wizards. With the No. 1 draft pick in hand and Young coming back to play alongside Anthony Davis, things are looking up in D.C.
