Kevin Durant to lead cast for season two of Netflix’s ‘Starting 5’

A few weeks ago, Netflix debuted the first season of Starting 5, a documentary series that followed LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, Anthony Edwards, Jimmy Butler and Domantas Sabonis throughout their 2023-24 respective seasons. The series provides an inside look at the players’ journey that fans normally don’t get to see.

Following the success of the first season, a second season has been announced with an all-new cast of superstars, according to NBA insider Shams Charania.

The second season will follow Kevin Durant, James Harden, Tyrese Haliburton, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jaylen Brown.

Season two will almost certainly follow these players throughout the 2024-25 NBA season, so expect a release date around October 2025. Season one saw Tatum win the NBA championship, with Edwards going to the conference finals, James and Butler making early playoff exits and Sabonis missing the playoffs entirely.

The cast of season two may also have varying postseason results, with SGA’s Thunder and Brown’s Celtics being serious title contenders while Harden’s Clippers could struggle to make the postseason due to their constant health issues.

Again, it will likely be a year or so until we actually see season two, but keep it in mind as you watch the new NBA season run it’s course.
