On the heels of Kawhi Leonard‘s trade to return to Toronto, he announced the hiring of Harrison Gaines of SLASH Sports as his new agent.

Leonard, 35, has one year and $50.3 million remaining on his contract and is eligible to sign a two-year extension worth up to $123.7 million.

Gaines will begin negotiation on an extension for Leonard, who made it known that he would only sign an extension with the Raptors. Other interested teams pulled their trade pursuits, clearing the way for Leonard’s return to the team he won an NBA championship with in 2019.

Leonard was formerly represented by Mitch Frankel of Impact Sports Management, and Dennis Robertson, Leonard’s uncle.

Gaines has been Leonard’s business attorney for the past year, and now is stepping into the role as Leonard’s sole representation.

Gaines is a former collegiate basketball player, playing his first two seasons at Penn and his last two at UC Riverside.

After graduating, Gaines founded SLASH Sports & Entertainment, and was named part of the representation team for Lonzo Ball.

Gaines will become Leonard’s sole representation, as Leonard becomes the 53rd player in NBA history to win an NBA championship with a team, play elsewhere and then reunite with the team they won a title with later in their careers.
