The Dallas Mavericks have officially won this year’s NBA Draft Lottery and secured the No. 1 pick, likely to be Duke’s Cooper Flagg.

The Mavericks had just a 1.8% chance to take home the top pick in the lottery but now have the right to draft Flagg, a 6-foot-9 two-way forward with exceptional scoring abilities. He averaged 19.2 points and 7.5 rebounds this season as he led Duke to the Final Four of the NCAA National Tournament.

Dallas has never won the lottery and after their season was tarnished by a shocking trade that sent Luka Doncic to the L.A. Lakers, their fans now have something to be excited about.

The three teams that had the highest odds of winning the top pick all slid outside of the top three. The Charlotte Hornets received the fourth pick while the Utah Jazz got the fifth pick and the Washington Wizards won the sixth pick.

The shocking lottery sent the NBA world into a frenzy, with many fans skeptical of the extraordinary results.

Regardless, all eyes will be on the Dallas Mavericks next season as they’ll likely be incorporating Flagg into their rotation.
