The Chicago White Sox took down the Chicago Cubs 9-8 on Sunday in a thrilling cross-town matchup, and no loved seemed to be lost between the White Sox fans and Cubs players.

During the fifth inning of the battle, Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong slammed into the Rate Field fence after missing a catch. Shortly after standing up and gathering himself, he was seen chirping back at a fan behind the fence that was talking trash.

According to MLB reporter Jesse Rogers, Crow-Armstrong said after the game that he was simply reciprocating the fan’s behavior. The fan later claimed to be at the game for an engagement party.

“Some lady decided to start talking sh-t and I felt the need to say it back,” he said.

Ultimately, the Cubs had a strong outing that fell short at the hands of a walk-off two-run homer by Edgar Quero.

There wasn’t much action in terms of conflict between the players on Sunday, but it’s unlikely that Crow-Armstrong is a favorite among White sox fans.
