The Boston Red Sox will be placing shortstop Trevor Story on the injured list with a groin injury, the team announced on Saturday.
He has reportedly been dealing with a groin injury for at least the last several weeks.

The 33-year-old has not had an ideal season in practically any way so far. He’s currently batting .206/.244/.303 with three homers, 19 RBIs, eight walks and 57 strikeouts in 41 games.
When it comes to fielding, Story leads all American League shortstops with six errors so far this season.
With no real timeline given by the team yet, it’s unclear how long the 33-year-old will be out.
If the Red Sox end up being without Story for an extended period, they have several options to fill in his role at shortstop.
In Saturday’s move, they also called up utility-man Nick Sogard from Triple-A Worcester. In 36 Triple-A games so far, he’s been reliable at the plate, hitting .269/.417/.454 with five home runs, 23 RBI, and four stolen bases.
Saturday’s report is the newest in a cycle of bad news for the Red Sox, who currently sit at last in the AL East with an 18-26 record.
