BREAKING: Aaron Rodgers agrees to one-year deal with Steelers

After another longer-than-expected wait, veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers has agreed to return to the Pittsburgh Steelers on a one-year deal, per NFL insider Adam Schefter.

The new deal reportedly includes a base salary of around $22 to $23 million, with incentives that push the total pay to $25 million.

In addition to a return for another year in Pittsburgh, Rodgers is also reunited with new Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy.

Rodgers and McCarthy spent 13 seasons as a coach-QB duo for the Green Bay Packers, actually winning a Super Bowl over the Steelers in 2011.

They’ll now work together in Pittsburgh for Rodgers’ 22nd NFL season. There was uncertainty around whether Rodgers would return to the NFL at all or opt for retirement.

This uncertainty only grew when longtime Steelers coach Mike Tomlin stepped down in January after taking a 30-6 loss to the Houston Texans in the wildcard round.

But with offseason OTA’s beginning on Monday, Rodgers recently returned to Pittsburgh and met with the front office. The 42-year-old ultimately opted to run it back in Pittsburgh, looking to add to an already-legendary NFL career.
