San Jose Sharks General Manager Mike Grier has announced that they have acquired defenseman Darnell Nurse from the Edmonton Oilers. Defenseman Shakir Mukhamadullin and prospect Zack Sharp were sent to Edmonton in return. The Oilers did not retain any of Nurse’s $9.25 million cap hit for the next four seasons.

Nurse has spent his entire 12-year career with the Oilers. He played in all 82 games last season, finishing with seven goals, 17 assists. He also led the team in blocked shots and hits. In his career, Nurse has 88 goals and 236 assists across 798 games.
Mukhamadullin appeared in 83 games for the Sharks from 2023 to 2026. He was initially drafted in the first round by the New Jersey Devils in 2020 before being traded to San Jose as part of the Timo Meier deal.
Sharp was drafted in the fourth round of the 2025 draft. He just finished his second season at Western Michigan University, where he had five goals and 14 assists across 37 games.
