The Los Angeles Lakers are off to a strong start this season and their 7-0 start at home is the franchise’s best in decades. Lakers star LeBron James is making his own sacrifice as he looks to help maintain L.A.’s success. The four-time MVP took to on Wednesday and announced that he’s taking a break from social media.

“Getting off social media for the time being,” he wrote. “Y’all take care.”

The post came just a few minutes after James reposted a screenshot of a post written by Kevin Durant‘s agent, Rich Kleiman. Kleiman’s post claimed that the NBA media has shifted to covering the league through “negative takes”.

Social media breaks are nothing new to James, who often activates “Zero-Dark Thirty” mode and gets off of social media for the duration of the NBA playoffs. This year however, his break is happening much earlier than usual, which could be taken in both positive and negative ways.

One thing we know for sure is that James is set on helping this Lakers team be as successful as possible.
