The Dallas Wings were on fire on Saturday as they outshot the Indiana Fever 107-104 to start the season off with a win.

Saturday’s season opener was a tightly contested battle that saw 20 total lead changes. Two distinct offensive approaches came from both teams, and they were equally effective.

While the Fever got out on the fastbreak for quick points, the Wings used a slower approach that produced more three-point opportunities.

After a close first quarter, Dallas led by two.

Both squads were on fire on the offensive end in the second, but Paige Bueckers and the Wings knocked down six of seven long-range attempts to pull ahead by nine at halftime.

That advantage didn’t last long as the Fever quickly come out in the third quarter with a run of their own. After roughly six second-half minutes, the game was tied once again.

In the final frame, Dallas regained control and went up by seven, but very shaky free throw shooting down the stretch left the door open for the Fever.

Indiana got to the rim in clutch time, but missed multiple game-tying threes in the final moments, allowing Dallas to hold on for the win.

Arike Ogunbowale finished with 22 points and five assists while Bueckers and Odyssey Sims each put up 20 points.

For the Fever, Kelsey Mitchell had 30 points and four assists as Aliyah Boston put up 23 points and Caitlin Clark finished with 20 points.

Saturday’s shootout marks the first time in WNBA history that both team scored at least 100 points in a season opener.
