A United States Senate committee has reportedly sent a letter to NBA commissioner Adam Silver asking for details on how the league is handling the ongoing gambling investigations, ESPN reported Monday.
The Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation requested documentation regarding last week’s federal indictments of Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier and Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups. The committee is chaired by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).

“The integrity of NBA games must be trustworthy and free from the influence of organized crime or gambling-related activity,” the committee wrote. “Sports betting scandals like this one may lead the American public to assume that all sports are corrupt.”

The letter also asks for a list of investigations that the NBA has carried out since 2020. The NBA had investigated Rozier for unusual betting activity but had cleared him of any wrongdoing by January 2025.
Silver says that the league is cooperating with all government agencies in the investigation.
