Shortly after being involved in a viral crash that saw his SUV flip over, golf legend Tiger Woods appeared to take a phone call before telling deputies that he “was just talking to the president.”

In the newly released bodycam footage from an officer’s perspective, Woods says “Thank you so much,” as he hung up his phone and was approached by a deputy.
He was arrested moments later on suspicion of DUI. The White House has not commented on whether Woods actually spoke to President Donald Trump after the crash.
Woods has been a longtime supporter of the President and is currently in a relationship with his former daughter-in-law, Vanessa Trump.
The crash occurred on March 27 after Woods clipped the back of a pickup truck’s trailer and flipped over. No one was injured in the crash, but officers noted that Woods’ eyes were bloodshot and he was lethargic.
He went on to fail a field sobriety test and refused to give a urine sample for testing. He passed a breathalyzer test, but officers found two hydrocodone pills in his pants pocket.
After Woods was arrested, President Trump was asked about the situation.
“I feel so badly. He’s got some difficulty,” Trump said. “Very close friend of mine. He’s an amazing person. Amazing man, but some difficulty.”
The bodycam footage also showed Woods appearing to nod off and yawn during his ride in the patrol car. On Tuesday, Woods pleaded not guilty to to driving under the influence before announcing that he is stepping away from golf to “seek treatment.”
