After reaching a settlement with the NFL, Brendan Sorsby has decided not to pursue litigation against the league for declining to hold a supplemental draft this year.

The report was sent out to all 32 teams and notes that Sorsby is eligible for the 2027 NFL Draft. It also confirmed that he will face no punishment from the league regarding his gambling case.

Sorsby released a statement on Tuesday confirming the news while expressing his desire to focus on recovering from his gambling problem.

“I accept 100% responsibility for my actions. I did not have control of my gambling problem and it took getting caught for me to realize that, but it was truly the best thing that could’ve happened to me,” he said in the statement. “Because of this, I have been able get the help I need and fully focus on my recovery.”

“I am fully committed to being the best version of myself that I can be while getting ready for the 2027 draft.”

Sorsby had transferred to Texas Tech and was planning to finish his collegiate career next season, but news broke in April that sorsby was entering a treatment program that focused on gambling addiction.

It was later confirmed that had placed tens of thousands of sports bets throughout his time in college, including a number of bets on his own team while he played for the Indiana Hoosiers.

When the NCAA subsequently ruled him ineligible, a legal battle began.

Sorsby was ultimately granted an injunction by Texas judge Ken Curry that would allow him to play for Texas Tech next season.

The college sports world quickly erupted and multiple conference began discussing plans to boycott Sorsby and Texas Tech.

Eventually, the Big 12 filed a lawsuit against Texas Tech and Sorsby announced his plan to apply for the supplemental NFL draft a few hours later.

The NFL went on to reject this application, resulting in a brief dispute with his legal team. Now, this dispute has been settled and Sorsby will have an extra year to prepare for the NFL.
