Barcelona midfielder Rodri will miss Sunday’s LaLiga match at Atlético Madrid due to a right hamstring injury, the club confirmed Wednesday.

The 30-year-old Spain international was substituted at halftime during Barcelona’s 3-0 UEFA Champions League win over Aston Villa on Tuesday. Tests at the club’s training ground Wednesday confirmed a minor injury to his right hamstring.

Barcelona did not specify a return timeline but confirmed Rodri will miss the match at Atlético’s Metropolitano Stadium. The club’s next competitive fixture is its LaLiga home match against Villarreal on November 22.

Rodri’s availability for Spain’s upcoming UEFA Nations League matches — versus Czechia on November 12 and England on November 15 — is uncertain. Spain coach Luis de la Fuente will name his squad Friday.

Rodri joined Barcelona from Manchester City this summer and has started all 14 of the club’s appearances across competitions this season, scoring one goal. Barcelona leads LaLiga with 30 points from 11 matches — two ahead of Atlético Madrid, which has won seven straight league games since September.

Defensively, Eric García and Andreas Christensen trained Wednesday ahead of the Atlético trip. Jules Koundé remains absent from full training due to an ankle injury. Full-back Xavi Espart is out until year-end. Dani Olmo and Roony Bardghji remain unavailable.
