Paris Saint-Germain scored four goals in the first 17 minutes of its UEFA Champions League match at Villarreal on Tuesday — the fastest any team has scored four goals from kickoff in tournament history.

João Neves poked home a loose ball in the ninth minute after PSG missed its initial corner kick into the box. Désiré Doué scored in the 12th minute. Senny Mayulu added a third in the 13th. Fabián Ruiz completed the quartet in the 17th. All three latter goals followed Villarreal defensive errors during build-out sequences or turnovers in their own half.

The feat broke Real Madrid’s previous record of four goals in 20 minutes against Dinamo Zagreb in 2011. PSG’s 18 goals through its first four Champions League matches this season are the most in the opening four games of any Champions League campaign.

PSG entered the match in first place in its Champions League group. The club played without Ousmane Dembélé, Marquinhos and Nuno Mendes due to thigh injuries, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia remains out with a ruptured ACL. PSG extended its winning streak across all competitions to 10 matches.

According to The Associated Press, PSG defeated Villarreal at El Madrigal.
