Russell Westbrook was one of the most dynamic players in the NBA during the 2010s. He won the 2016-17 MVP, won two scoring titles, and three assists titles.

Westbrook also averaged a triple-double for an entire season four times. Yet, ahead of the 2025-26 season, teams are showing little interest in Westbrook.

“Several teams have been mentioned as potential fits, of course. The list includes the Sacramento Kings, Miami Heat, New York Knicks, and Milwaukee Bucks,” Hoops Wire’s Sam Amico said. “That said, sources told Hoops Wire they would not be surprised if Westbrook enters the season unsigned.

“If he does get signed, it would likely be to a minimum contract, and it may or may not be a deal with any of the teams mentioned above.”

Westbrook averaged 13.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game on 44.9% shooting last season for the Denver Nuggets. He can still help a team, but he’ll have to take a major pay cut if he wants to make an NBA roster in the upcoming season.
