After just a few months with the franchise, it appears as if Nikola Vučević will be parting ways with the Boston Celtics.

In a report from Marc Stein, he stated that the offseason market for Vučević will likely be a competitive one due to his ability to stretch the floor. For Boston, who is still trying to maintain its financial flexibility, a reunion is highly unlikely.

“Former All-Star center Nikola Vučević is increasingly regarded as a certainty to switch teams this summer after a fractured right ring finger in March helped derail his brief stint as a Boston Celtic in the spring,” wrote Stein. “He’ll be 36 in October but figures to draw some interest on the open market given that there is generally always a clamor for floor-spacing big men.”

Vučević appeared in 16 games for the Celtics following the trade deadline. He averaged 9.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and two assists but would miss significant time with the team dealing with a fractured finger. Despite recovering ahead of the postseason, he would not play a major factor during the Celtics’ disappointing first round exit to the Philadelphia 76ers as it primarily opted to go with starting center Neemias Queta.

Vučević will be looking for another new home this summer as he enters his 16th year in the NBA.
