The Buffalo Bills released safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

Gardner-Johnson served a one-game suspension for spitting at Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers during a Week 6 matchup. He missed Sunday’s win over the Baltimore Ravens.

According to an NFL Network report by Cameron Wolfe, the Bills’ decision stemmed from Gardner-Johnson’s inconsistent play—not the spitting incident. Gardner-Johnson signed with Buffalo as a free agent this offseason.

He is 28 years old and in his eighth NFL season. The New Orleans Saints selected him in the fourth round (105th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft.
