When ranking the teams that had the best offseason, the Philadelphia 76ers arguably take the top spot. They found a way to resign the majority of their most important free agents in Tyrese Maxey, Kelly Oubre Jr., Kyle Lowry and K.J. Martin. All before their biggest move of the offseason, signing nine-time All Star Paul George on a 4-year, $212 million contract.
The move sent shockwaves throughout the basketball world, as it should have. George is one of the best shot creators in the league and is amongst the NBA’s top two-way forwards. His fit alongside the Sixers’ roster seems like it could spell a title run for Philadelphia.

George’s off-ball movement and shooting could create nightmares for teams that try to double Embiid or Maxey on defense. The opposite could also be said as George’s adaptability and isolation skills could lead to open shots for the other Sixers stars.

Not only will George raise Philadelphia’s offense to the next level, he could also bolster the team’s output on the defensive end. As a versatile defender, George would give the Sixers some room to change lineups and rotations. The seasoned veteran and the 2018-19 league leader in steals is more than equipped to guard the opponent’s best player.
The Sixers offseason has only gotten better as they signed additional free agents in Caleb Martin, Andre Drummond, Eric Gordon, and Guerschon Yabusele.
Although George is undoubtedly in the latter half of his career, he may still be able to capture an NBA title if the team can be cohesive and relatively injury-free.
