In contrast to Monday’s first playoff game, the matchup between Phoenix and OKC was a shootout and both offenses were in a rhythm.
It took some time for both squads to heat up, but the Thunder took control after a few early momentum swings. OKC shot 68.2% from the field in the opening quarter to take a four-point lead.
Phoenix came out swinging in the second quarter to retake control and jump out to a small advantage. Their lead was short-lived as OKC once again ended the quarter on a run.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led an OKC offense that put up 38 points in the second frame.
The next two quarters were chaotic as the Thunder continued to shoot efficiently from everywhere on the floor. A dynamic Phoenix offense kept pace with OKC in the final two quarters, but never truly made a successful comeback attempt.
SGA led all scorers with 31 points and eight assists on 10-of-17 shooting while Chet Holmgren had 24 points and 12 rebounds.
Devin Booker had 24 points and six assists as four Suns players finished with 20 points or more.
The Thunder will now face the winner of the Lakers-Rockets first-round series, which the Lakers currently lead 3-1.
