Boston Celtics president Brad Stevens has been named the 2025-26 NBA Basketball Executive of the Year, the league announced on Tuesday.
Stevens wins the award after the Celtics finished at second in the Eastern Conference with a 56-26 record. During last season’s playoff run, Jayson Tatum went down with a torn Achilles. This season was viewed as a gap year for the Celtics as Tatum recovered, but that was far from the truth.
Instead, Stevens helped the team remain successful, with the assistance of Jaylen Brown and his emergence as a proven first option.
After first winning the award in 2023-24, Stevens is now the 12th executive in NBA history to win it multiple times. As a beloved head coach for Boston, he transitioned to the presidential role before the beginning of the 2021-2022 season.
Since then, he’s helped the Celtics win an NBA championship, make two Finals appearances and acquired fan-favorite guard Derrick White in a trade.
Boston now has a 3-1 first-round lead over the Philadelphia 76ers. The Celtics look poised to make a return to the Finals, thanks in part to Stevens’ aggressive roster maintenance.
