The Philadelphia 76ers stunned the Boston Celtics 111-97 in Game 2 of their first-round matchup on Tuesday behind a breakout performance by VJ Edgecombe.

Neither team was hot to start the game, but the Celtics actually built a double-digit lead midway through the first quarter before the Sixers returned the favor and cut the deficit to three after the first 12 minutes.
The second quarter was a deciding factor in this matchup. While the Celtics struggled to score at their usual pace, Edgecombe went nuclear. The rookie phenom dropped 16 points and six rebounds in the second quarter alone, putting Philadelphia ahead by eight at halftime.
Boston did a better job of containing the Sixers in the third quarter, but they still couldn’t find any momentum on offense. After both sides cooled off in the third, Philadelphia made another statement in the final frame.
The Sixers sank nine of their six three-point attempts in the fourth quarter while holding the Celtics to 20 points in the last 12 minutes.
Edgecombe finished the game with 30 points and 10 rebounds on 6-of-10 shooting while Tyrese Maxey put up 29 points and nine assists.
For Boston, Jaylen Brown had 36 points and seven rebounds while Jayson Tatum had 19 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists.
The series now heads to Philadelphia tied 1-1.
