Duke Blue Devils News

Patrick Ngongba II set to return to Duke next season

Duke center Patrick Ngongba II is returning to the Blue Devils for his junior season, he announced on social media Monday.

The 20-year-old averaged career-highs across the board last season with 10.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.1 blocks per game.

Ngongba was the starting center for the Blue Devils most of the season until dealing with injuries in March.

When he returned for the tournament, he was a reserve for Maliq Brown.

Now returning for his junior season, Ngongba will likely be the full-time starter for Duke. He joins guard Cayden Boozer as the second major piece to return.

Isaiah Evans, Caleb Foster and Dame Sarr were also key contributors this season. The verdict is still out on whether or not they will declare for the NBA draft.

Wooden Award winner Cameron Boozer is expected to declare for the NBA draft, so Ngongba’s return is a good start for the Blue Devils as they look to build a strong frontcourt.

James Parker contributed to this story.
