The nation’s best shooter is returning to college basketball

Milan Momcilovic, former Iowa State forward and the top shooter in the country, has officially withdrawn from the 2026 NBA Draft and will return to college basketball.

He had a strong performance at the draft combine, but has opted to return for his senior season. This immediately makes Momcilovic the most sought-after player on the transfer portal.

As a 6’8″ sharpshooting wing, he led the nation in three-pointers last season with 136 triples. He was also No. 1 in three-point efficiency at a blistering 48.7%.

We’ve seen elite shooters like Stephen Curry and Buddy Hield thrive at the college level, but Momcilovic’s combination of volume and efficiency is unheard of.

As a result, his market is expected to be huge, with teams offering him upwards of $7 million. As of publication, a number of powerhouses like Kentucky, Arizona, Louisville and St. John’s are in the mix to be his next destination.

When speaking on his future decision, Momcilovic said he’s well-versed and equipped to make the right choice.

“I’ve been in college for three years, and I know what to ask and what to look for,” he said. “I don’t need to go on a visit or anything. I can probably choose pretty quickly. Also, there aren’t a lot of schools that still have a lot of money or a lot of roster spots, so it’s not like I’m choosing between 15 schools, it’s going to be three or four.”
