The Milwaukee Brewers held off the St. Louis Cardinals 5-1 on Monday, thanks to some more historic pitching by Jacob Misiorowski.

After breaking numerous records with his recent velocity, Misiorowski maintained his insane speed on Monday.
He struck out Iván Herrera with a 103.4 mph fastball, making it the fastest strikeout pitch thrown by a starter since pitch tracking began in 2008. He now holds the top six fastest strikeout pitches on record.
Misiorowski is by far the fastest starting pitcher in recorded history and is now inching closer to the fastest pitches every thrown. Boston Red Sox closer Aroldis Chapman dominates the top of this list, recording the fastest pitch in history back in 2010.
That pitch registered a blistering 105.8 mph.
While Misiorowski recently said he thinks he can reach 105, his current velocity was more than enough to help keep the Cardinals scoreless until the top of the sixth inning.
Meanwhile, Christian Yelich hit a two-run homer for the Brewers in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead.
Herrera sent in a runner on a ground-out to third for the Cardinals to make it a 3-1 game, but Garrett Mitchell quickly responded for Milwaukee.
He hit a one-run RBI single to go up 4-1 in the bottom of the sixth.
After seven impressive innings, Misiorowski tied a career-high with 12 strikeouts while becoming the first pitcher to reach 100 strikeouts this season.
In the bottom of the seventh, Andrew Vaughn helped extend the lead to 5-1 with a one-run ground-rule double.
Despite facing a new pitcher in Aaron Ashby for the eighth inning, the Cardinals failed to score.
In the final inning, the Cardinals came up empty once again, allowing Milwaukee to secure the victory.
