After a few days of confusion, longtime MLB veteran Chris Taylor has announced that he really is retiring. His retirement was first announced on Friday, but multiple sources on Saturday reported that Taylor had changed his mind and would continue playing.

On Sunday, Taylor took to social media to clear up the confusion and confirm his retirement.

“Clearing up any confusion. I’ve officially decided to retire from the game I’ve dedicated my entire life towards,” Taylor wrote. “I’m beyond grateful to all of my coaches and teammates, and the organizations who allowed me to live out my childhood dream.”

After being drafted by the Seattle Mariners in 2012, Taylor played for them until he was traded to the Dodgers in 2016. He spent nearly a decade with the Dodgers, with his best season coming in 2017.

He was also responsible for the incredible walk-off home run in L.A.’s 2021 Wild Card victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.

It’s likely been an odd weekend for him to say the least, but Taylor has officially called it a career.
