Kevin Durant

Will the Suns sit Kevin Durant for the remainder of the season?

It has been a wasted season for arguably the most talented team in the NBA.

The Phoenix Suns have nothing but bucket getters on its roster; however, it has a losing record of 35-40. Phoenix is out of the league’s Play-In Tournament picture, regardless of having Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal.

Mike Budenholzer is a good coach, yet he has not worked out in Phoenix. He guided the Atlanta Hawks to four playoff appearances in five years and won an NBA Championship with the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2020-21 season.

Phoenix is dripping with talent, including an all-time scorer in Durant, but it has nothing to show for it.

Stephen A. Smith and the panelists for ESPN’s First Take have called the Suns ‘an atrocity’ this season. Kendrick Perkins, a former NBA player, stated on ESPN’s Get Up that Phoenix should consider shutting Durant down for the rest of the year.

“This season is a wash,” Perkins said about the Suns. “Outside of the Philadelphia 76ers, the Suns are the biggest disappointment in the NBA. There is no reason to bring KD back. You can just tell the energy is off, the spirit is off, they are so inconsistent, and this is a prime example of a team that plays individual basketball. This is not a team.”

Perkins questions the leadership as Booker nor Durant has stepped up. Stephen A. Smith said the Suns are ‘bad for basketball.”

Durant may not return for next season, but this campaign was not what he hoped for.
