BREAKING: Hornets trade Miles Bridges to Suns for Grayson Allen and Royce O’Neale

The Charlotte Hornets continue to make major offseason moves as they have just traded Miles Bridges, a 2029 first-round pick and a 2027 second-round pick to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Grayson Allen, Royce O’Neale and 2033 first-round pick.

Sunday’s deal comes less than a week after the Hornets traded franchise cornerstone LaMelo Ball and Josh Green to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Naz Reid and a sizable amount of draft capital.

Bridges was drafted No. 12 by the Los Angeles Clippers in 2018 before being traded to the Hornets on the same day.

Across seven seasons in Charlotte, he played in 501 games and racked up the third-most made field goals in franchise history. He also ranks fourth in total career rebounds as a Hornet.

While the Hornets made some serious strides in recent years and finished last season with the league’s best offense after Jan 1., they have missed the playoffs for 10 straight seasons.

With a new home in Phoenix, Bridges will now look to make his playoff debut next season.

For Charlotte, the move signals a willingness to switch up last season’s roster even further. Sunday’s move brings in two role player with playoff experience as well as a further-out first-round draft pick.

Time will tell if either of these teams plan to make any further roster-shaking trades.
