The Philadelphia Eagles have long been rumored to be working with the New England Patriots on a trade involving wide receiver A.J. Brown. Amid a season of reported turmoil in Philadelphia, multiple reports say New England is Brown’s most probable destination.

As Patriots quarterback Drake Maye spoke with reporters at team OTAs on Wednesday, he acknowledged that Brown is a great player while reiterating where his focus lies.

“They throw names around here, around every team, depending on whoever looks best in the graphic in the jersey on social media,” Maye said. “I’m really just focused. We’ve got some new guys in here that I’m working with.”

“I know there’s a lot of talk with that, but if he ends up being on our team, great. What a great player. And if he doesn’t, we’ve still got to work these guys here. It’s a tough balance, but I know he’s a phenomenal player.”

If a trade went through, Brown would likely become New England’s go-to receiver. He recorded 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns on 78 receptions for the Eagles last season.

Reports emerged this spring surrounding an alleged rift between Brown and Eagles QB Jalen Hurts, who were once best friends.

Time will tell where Brown will be playing next season, but Maye is focused on who he has in the locker room right now.
