Deandre Ayton was scheduled to clear waivers at 5 PM EST. Once he does, he is expected to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers.

As of now, no official word has been released on whether Ayton signed or not.

Last season with the Portland Trail Blazers, Ayton averaged 14.4 points and 10.2 rebounds per game in 40 games played. The Trail Blazers ended up buying Ayton out of his contract as they were reportedly tired of his “bad habits.”

If Ayton joins the Lakers, he will fill a void under the basket that they desperately need after trading away Anthony Davis.

Update: Ayton officially signs with Lakers

The signing is now official. Deandre Ayton is joining the Los Angeles Lakers on a two-year deal. Between both the Trail Blazers and Lakers, Ayton will earn $34 million next season.
